Axim x3 backup battery failure.
Hi there,

I have an axim x3.

I have a problem with my backup battery:

Under power settings, it says "Backup battery Normal".

But when I take my main battery out and put it back in, it is like if I did a hard reset. (i.e. backup battery not fulfilling its function)

So I tried taking out my main battery for 15 minutes and putting it back on and see if the backup battery drains or not and it says 100%... (the number comes from: start-> settings -> system -> system information-> close -> start -> programs -> pocket word -> SysInfo.)

I even tried opening my axim and see if the backup battery pin was correctly plugged in. (and it was)

What can I do next to fix this problem?

thanks.

Hi guys again.
I see that are some views but no answer..
So I guess nobody figured it out yet.
I even tried to upgrade the ROM to the A02 (04080402EN) version and it still does not work..
So I guess that I will have to give up and just do regular backups and check my main batttery well.
Thanks anyhow guys.

P.S. if anybody finds out, please don't be shy.

Take care.

maybe it is the backup battery, you're not going to try to change it out?
i never have, but I read it was just a watch battery

No, it's not a watch battery but an internal recharageable battery. (The watch batteries are the ones on the X5s). There are several threads which discuss replacing this battery, but it's at your own risk:

Thanks for the advices guys,

But I think that it is more of a software (or hardware other than the backup battery itself) problem because it says "battery normal" and all the "will keep data for 30 min..." message.

All the problems I read about were about "abnormal battery"..

Anyways I have decided to pass on and start to actually put programs on my axim and use it.

And you are right Gigi, it is so easy to break something in the quest for the little bast$%d.

Anyways thanks a ton guys.
