You may use your x3i if you got an extra battery, so that you can swap the batt's quickly - within a few minutes or so ...
I've done that for a long period ...

Mine is broken at the moment. I've been sticking the battery on the charger or 15 minute intervals or so. Also trading batteries with my brothers x30 so he can charge it through his.
I would suggest unless you really knew what you were doing with a soldering iron and have a good one on hand leave repairing it to the experts. I was planning on fixing mine but when we opened it up and looked and tried to de-solder a couple of the pins it was obvious we were too inexperienced to do it. Luckily a friend at work was able to do it.

Cool Sync pins damaged

Yes I've had my sync pins bend from time to time and I'm using a few magnifying glasses and some safety pins to repair. I'm a good welder so I would assume I could probably re-solder in a new connector but if anyone knows of where I can get that part or who in the states can do the repair I would like to investigate that possibility. What would be better is if anyone knows of a new design attachment which can bypass the pin design altogether.
Thanks Axim users,
Linda

The new-style connectors have a flat board (like a printed circuit board) rather than separate pins.... if you get a replacement connector ask before ordering to make sure that you get the new one.

Also, removing the entire jack is a bit of a a trick. It is not only that you need to desolder the pins but also the posts at the bottom of the board. Be sure you can do this with your equipment. I was not able to with my tools. I have just replaced individual pins instead and that was easy. I have described how I have done this elsware on the sight. It really is not that big of a deal--but not for the squeemish.

You could always send it to pocketpctechs. May cost more but more likely to happy with the results. http://www.pocketpctechs.com
