X3 media player & activesync problems

Please help!! I am new to this forum and this is my first PDA. I am having problems using activesync and unfortunately for me I got the x3 off of Ebay without the companion cd. I noticed that the prongs that fit in the cradle are bent. (not all) When I try to connect the x3 with activesync it says that com ports 1, 2, and IR ports are unavailable. I am able to charge the x3 but I was wondering if there was a problem with the sync cable. Also, I don't have an sd card yet but I figured that media player should still recognize the device but it doesn't. By the way I am using xp on my laptop. Sorry for so many questions but I have been working on this for 7 hrs.

It sounds like maybe something is broke. Some of your broken prongs could cause this. Youll probably have to get it fixed.

You can try syncing with ir (or bluetooh and wifi, but they arent on the x3, right?).

You can get a card reader and put songs on a sd card or if your laptop already has a sd card slot, then put the sd card in the axim. You could also use that method to install programs via cab files.
