Replacement Headphone Jack
Hi, I've been the proud owner of an x3i for years now and have had some issues with it but was always able to get a replacement from dell. Unfortunately my warranty is up now, and a new axim is not an option (as I'm a poor starving college student). My latest problem is the headphone jack, it has been steadily dying on me, and is now long gone. So I pulled out the good ol soldering iron and pulled it off. Problem is, I have no idea where to get a replacement for this thing. I've tried searching jameco, digikey, and newark with no luck. Here are some pictures of the beast. The top picture shows a view from....the top! If anyone could help me identify that logo there, that would be great. It's like a serpent or a snake or something. I don't recognize it. The bottom view has the contacts highlighted in green. There are 6 total. The three in a row at the back are all perfectly in line. The two in the middle are offset slightly. And then there's the ground at the front on its own. The two mounting posts are boxed in red. I'm sorry about the quality of the pictures, quite hard to take good pictures. So my longwinded question is, does anyone know where I can get a suitable replacement jack on the cheap? Thanks for the advice.
Tom

Well, I think I may have found a generic replacement. I was examinging the circuit board and discovered that the volume control was made by a company called hosiden. So I looked them up and their logo is a lotus flower and not a sea serpent, but maybe it was that snake thing a couple years ago? hosiden...posiden? Ah whatever, http://www.hosiden.co.jp/web/english...g01_kogata.pdf
Model# HSJ1494-01-010
The only measurements that don't match is that the solder tails on that part are 2 mm instead of 1 mm and the socket only sticks out 2 mm instead of what I think is an even 3 mm on the old jack.

I was gonna say that it looks like the headphone jack that I salvaged from a $1 radio (scan type). Might want to breeze by a dollar store.

En Taro Tassadar.

En Taro Tassadar. Thanks for the advice brain. Well, I managed to bend it (the pins inside) around a bit and soak it (literally) in WD-40 and put it back on the board, gorilla glue to reinforce it. It's holding up quite well with no play at all. No crackling, no disconnecting anymore. The weird thing is, when the headphone were loose and crackling, it would actually make the touch screen unresponsive. They must share circuitry or software somewhere. Anywho, it works great (for now). I can't figure out why they would use that jack in the first place. It has one nc on one side and two on the other. But all 6 pins seem to be wired, but two I believe were tied together. So they had no reason for using such an unusual plug except to make it hard to replace. The 5 pin plugs were EASY to find, even radio shack had those in store. But a 6 pin? Eh, end rant. I'll keep the dollar store in mind if it breaks again though.
