X3i strangeness....
Hey guys,

Well, I was on these forums a while back, then I kinda left PPC stuff alone, and my X3i got left in a drawer. Then, I was cleaning out my tech stuff, and pulling out stuff to show off with (rolf) and I found my old pda. First, the touch screen was screwed up, so I did a screen alignment setup, working fine. But now, the OS is hella unstable. Since the thing got reset, I had to add owner info, and all, so I hit the settings buttion in the start menu, so the menu opened, and then nothing worked. Similar things happen if I enable wifi, or tap the tasks, or anything. It's soo sad. I spent about $400, from dell and it stopped working. I think it may be a memory issue, but I can't get to that menu!! I'm not sure my ppc came with a OS reinstall disk, so where can I find one?

thanks.

The backup battery is a small capacitor in the axim that is charged with either battery power or mains power. The backup battery will drain if there is no power source so you probably didn't let it charge enough after turning the pda on. The problem should go away by charging for about 15 mins. I think this capacitor is soldered directly to the board so there's no practical way of replacing it.

In case your backup battery is dead, www.PDAsmart.com can replace it for you. There are also instructions under hardware troubles thread that gives instructions on how you can change this battery yourself if you are technically inclined. You can either buy the backup battery from PDAsmart or try and get one on eBay. Hope it isn't dead, though.

Well, I did replace the Backup battery, so I can use my PDA for more than 2 mins before freezing, but my problem is now is that the PDA keeps freezing, won't open certain programs, like file explorer, and items like calender alerts randomly dissapear off the today screen... I think I need to reinstall the OS, so how can I? Keep in mind my x3i was ordered on the first day it was released... thanks.
