PDA says No Battery while charging

I recently bought a axim x3 from geeks.com and I'm having trouble getting the pda to turn on without having the AC power connected.

When the power is connected and I look in the battery properties, in the main battery section it says "no battery," even though I do have the battery in the pda. Is this normal or is there something wrong? If something is wrong, could it just be a dead main battery, or is there something wrong with the PDA itself?

Welcome to Aximsite!

If it were just a dead battery, you would get a low battery reading when you check battery properties. It sounds like the battery is not connecting properly. Did you check the contacts to make sure they are clean? Did you make sure it is properly installed? If you have a cradle, you can charge your main battery in the rear slot. IIRC, if the cradle light is green, the battery is fully charged. One more thing you can do is a hard reset (hold down power button while pushing stylus into reset hole at the back). This will clear data and user-installed programs but will confirm that your problem is not caused by software conflicts, etc.

thanks for the reply. I put the battery in the cradle and it finally started charging. I took it out after an hour and put it in my pda and the pda turned on, but the problem that I notice now is that whenever the battery is in, it says that it is charging, even though the power cable is not plugged in. I tried soft reseting it and hard resetting it, but it still says the battery is charging.

When you say your battery is still charging, is it sitting in the cradle? Even if the power cable is not plugged in, it can still charge via USB.

You mean it's not attached to anything and still says it's charging? Have you tried another soft reset?

right, its not attached to anything. After using the pda for a while i've noticed that the battery level will change every so often. Sometimes I look and iit says the battery is charging, other times it doesnt. Also, the battery power levels vary also. I've tried a soft reset but it didnt help
