replacing backup battery on x3
Hello:
I bought an x3 on ebay for a friend, but the backup battery does not charge. So I am wondering if anyone has a backup battery for the x3 and if anyone knows how to install it.

You can replace it if you are tech savy. The x5 has a watch battery type backup battery but the x3 doesn't. If you do a search you will find a link somewhere on this site that has instructions on how to do it. Another alternative would be to contact PDAsmart (located in Texas) and they can replace it for you. Here is a link:
http://www.pdasmart.com/aximpartscenterx3.htm. Good luck.

I suggest you buy a double 1800 battery for your axim, they last 2x as long than the 950 standard battery, and you can find them on a variety of web sites for around $20 (more or less). One key word of advice don't pay $99 for an authentic dell 1800 mhz battery from Dell.com. The after-market models are very good for the money, and 1/5th the price, go for it!

He's referring to the internal backup battery inside the X3. They're small cells that are not widely available. You have to disassemble the unit to replace it.

I haven't used/charged my X3i in about 7 months now. I'll have to pull it out of the closet and see if the main/backup batteries still work.
