x3 won't reboot
I am looking for words of wisdom...

My x3 will not reboot. I have tried both hard and soft resets. I can only get the blue dell screen. I chatted with dell customer support. They told me the unit needs to be replaced. My warrenty is expired. Is it really dead or do they just want to sell me another axim?

Thank you.

In fairness to DELL it probably is dead; but.....

NOT necessarily!

My old X3 had the same problem so I ordered my X50. Whilst waiting I started to play around with the old unit. I removed the battery overnight, allowing the unit to drain completely and then plugged the unit into the mains and hard reset immediately. I don't know why it worked, nor do I know if it will work for you; all I know is that, by the time the X50 arrived, I had a fully operational X3.

I set the x3 aside to mess with later while I worked on other things. A half hour later it 'pinged' and then started to boot. I have no idea why? All my programs are gone, but it seems to be working now. I'm kinda' afraid to trust it now.

Mmmmmm.....

You will be cautious for a while. It may have been caused by no more than a rogue program or file. Anyway, you have your Axim back a cause for celebration.

I would reinstall the apps one at a time with a soft reset in between each install to see if a particular program was causing any difficulty. Also, just keep an eye on the available memory: the X3 isn't the biggest device and a lack of memory can be problematic

Now i can set it aside for a few hours and when i pick it up again I get instructions for the hard reset. I push the button and it goes to blue screen. I think it is indeed dead. Thank you all for your help.

1st of all don't give up ! I allready came across 2 people that did gave up and sold their axims, now i am happy owner of 3 x3i perfectly working units

That's my idea:

1. Repeat previously advised steps to get Your Axim alive
2. Keep it runninga nd get full ROM update
3. Connect sync cable and update ROM
4. If update won't work copy IMG file to SD card and reboot Axim using procedure described here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/archi...p/t-31000.html .

What i think is You have corrupted OS and best way is to reinstall it. I think that it will work as exactly the same problems were described by previous owners of 2 axims i bought. Good Luck !

pitlin.

By the way small comment to some posts that i have seen on Aximsite:

Folks, how can You give others full documentation of something that You didn't designed or even built ??? And no futher comments on that.
