Aximsitewifiicon Trouble with wireless card

I bought a used Axim X3i from a friend of mine who closed his small business. He showed me all it could do and it used to work fine. I did a hard reboot to erase all his business information and set the device to my own settings, but after doing so, when I tried to enable the wireless card, it gave me a 'unrecognized card in socket 1' message. I saw that this was a problem often encountered by other Axim owners by reading on this site, but even after installing all the required updated and patches offered on the Dell website, I still get the error message. Customer support gave up on me since the waranty is expired (of course). Anybody know how to fix this problem or a place that fixes Axims in the Montreal region?

Do you have any third party software installed on the Axim? There have been some reports that certain Today plugins (Journal Bar, Pocket Plus, PocketBreeze, Battery Pack, etc.) can cause this error (although the problem was reported on later versions of Axims).

If you are talking about a plug in Wifi card, you would need to download the drivers for it from the manufacturer.

The 'I' in X3i stands for Internet because it has a built in WiFi.

I thought it stood for Integrated... As in integrated wireless. But none-the-less... :)

It is kind of strange though, and similar to the problems people have with sd cards all of a sudden not being recognized.

I've only installed the norton anti-virus for pocket-pc on it. But then again, it was on it with the previous owner and it worked fine. The perfect prism program, if I understand correctly, is not a solution for my built-in card?

I would reccomend uninstalling any other third party software one at a time to see if there is any program causing the device driver failure. The axim WLAN should work fine with no extras installed. good luck :D
