i broke my x3 :(

i tried out a regedit program, and in it i changed a couple of things. now when i turn it on the screen is just vertical stripes. i've tried reloading, and i've tried reloading the regedit program but i can't get it to work since i need to confirm the programs install on the screen that i can't see. i'd hate to have broke my toy. can anyone help me with how i could reload the default settings? or if worse comes to worse how to reinstall the OS?
thanks

To wipe all your data and go back to the default settings hold the power button while pushing the stylus into the hole on the back.

sadly that would not fix my problem. doing a hard reset only wipes the memory and resets default settings. my problem is that i was foolishly changing the registry and now it doesn't display any more.

A hard-reset completely wipes out everything that is stored in RAM and returns the unit to its factory-default state. That includes the registry. If a hard-reset does not fix the display then you have a hardware problem, not a software one.
