When I do (or when it wants) a hard reset and then restore from a SD card everything works but when I hook up to my computer I have to make a new partnership. Is there a way to get it to find the old one?

What I would do is delete the old partnership, so when you re-establish your partnership, you can use the name on your restored device. To do this, click on File - Delete Partnership when the device is not connected. Delete your old one and then sync.

Thanks Gigi, I have done that before, it duplicates things in my calendar and contacts. That's why I want to make it find the old connection.
