I had just replaced a failed backup battery on an X3i, which is something that I had done before successfully. This time however, something happened, and the X3i hangs at the boot screen (tap screen to setup), and the builtin speaker beeps continously. The only button that works is the power button, and the reset button. Resetting the X3i does no good. Removing and re-installing the backup battery/control buttons cable does no good. Removing the battery plug/control buttons cable/digitiser cable does no good. Any idea what the problem might be? thanks for any help.

Update: Actually the PPC suffered the same symptoms prior to the battery being replaced. So it looks like it could be a malfunctioning motherboard. Updating with latest drivers did not resolve problems.
