Drivers ?? Software?? Synch with Outlook?? Charging Stand??
Someone gave me a Dell Axim X3 wi-fi equipped Pocket PC, with charging stand & fold up keyboard. I have a laptop with XP. Outlook is Outlook 2002.
I figured out how to check my email via IE.
Currently my email is stripped off the server when it's downloaded to Outlook on my laptop. In other words, once the email is downloaded to Outlook on my laptop, it's stripped off my email provider's server (Windstream) & I can't see it any longer if I check it online. That's okay & I would like that to remain the same.
However, I have been using an older Palm that synchs with Outlook. I have access to my Outlook address book, Outlook notes, & Outlook calendar on my Palm. I would like to be able to replace my Palm with the Axim X3 Pocket PC. I would like for the Axim to synch with Outlook 2002 so that my Outlook address book, Outlook notes & Outlook calendar are synched on the Axim.
The advantage with the Axim over the Palm would be that with the Axim, I can check my email via IE & the internet, until such time as I'm home where I can download the email via Outlook onto my laptop.
I went to Dell's website & downloaded some drivers, but I must not have found the correct one. My laptop doesn't recognize the Axim that I can tell. Of course I need the laptop to recognize the device before I can even think about getting Axim synched with Outlook.
Can anyone tell me how to locate & download the software and/or drivers so my laptop will recognize he Axim?
Can anyone tell me how to get the Axim synched with Outlook?
I really don't want to bog down the Axim with all my actual emails. I will just check that online. I really just want to synch the Outlook address book, notes & calendar with the Axim like I currently do with my Palm.
Minor question. The charging stand has two (2) slots. The Axim Pocket PC fits in the front slot on the charging stand. There is a larger slot (or slots) at the back/top of the charging stand. What goes there? (I can't tell if it's one large slot, or two smaller slots that make a large slot.) The larger/rear slot(s) is/are to narrow (side to side) for the Axim to fit back there. It does fit in the front slot where I assume it's charging.
Any/all help will be greatly appreciated.
