SD slot not responding
When I insert my SanDisk 256 mb SD card into my new X3i nothing happens. I cannot locate the card when browsing my device (on the PC or the PDA) and it is not viewable when I look in my memory settings. This is not a new card. I used it with my X5 and it worked fine. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong or what I should do? (I tried both a hard and soft reset).

Well, I would first try another non Sandisk SD card to see if that's the problem. If that doesn't fix it, call Dell and ask for an exchange.

Uh hmmm, where did I put my troll bashing stick?

Same problem here with my X3i that I got yesterday. Won't recognize my 256 Simpletech. Works in my card reader on my PC though. Called tech support last night, their sending me out another unit.

You have got to be kidding!

Do I need to start an X3 SD-card section on the website? (Going to do one for Palm T3 users, they're having all sorts of problems!)

At least I got HP to admit within 3 hours that there was a rom bug with my 2210...

They're even going to send me the update (on another 2210) so I can test it out.

Can't see Dell doing that, eh?
(Sorry, going off topic here!)

This just happened to me as well. I tried 2 256M SD cards (both Sandisk) and neither one is being recognized. This is ridiculous.

I don't get it. Sandisk is the best around for memory like SD or CF. Good prices, and high quality. Do Sandisk cards have problems with Dell devices? All of mine work perfectly in various PC's, Cameras, PDA's etc.

I've had three faulty Scamdisk SD cards. The faults were easier to produce in my Axim but I was also bable to reproduce them in my camera.

The also benchmark considerably lower than other brands.

They're the bottom of the barrel.

Don't blame Lexar for this one
Dell is pulling a Palm. They've introduced an Axim that is having problems reading or not reading Axim cards. Actually I think it just doesn't work. I just returned mt X3i after it couldn't read my Simpletech, it work's just fine in PC card reader. Will take over a week to replace it and they couldn't even guarante that. I've been buying Dell computers for well over 5 years, now I'm done. Done with long hold times, done with people who can't speak english and done with quality control problems. For those of you interested in the X3. I'd say wait a while til the problems are ironed out or buy the X5. I've really enjoyed posting on this board but this will probaly be my last. So long.

Hahaha....

Just out of curiosity, where did you hear that Sandisk products are the best around?!?!

Just because they're flooding all of the retail stores with Sandisk-brand cards, doesn't mean they're anywhere near the best. Don't get me wrong, they're not all bad by any means....but there are a lot of people (Axim and non-Axim owners) who have had lots of problems with this brand. More so than with other brands of memory anyhow.

Plus, companies like Lexar and Simpletech make cards that are much faster than the Sandisk cards, and they cost about the same price.

I, and many of my friends, have used Sandisk cards with great success. It's possible that there is an incompatibility between the X5 and Sandisk cards, or an iPaq and Sandisk cards, it's bound to happen with some product. However, this is the only place I have actually heard of people having a problem with Sandisk cards.

sandisk SD issues are considerably more prevalent with the X5 as opposed to other devices. check out pocketpcpassion.com and search the forums....."sandisk SD problems" shows up a lot more in the dell board, and the problems are worse, too.

Hi,
Funny we have the same problem. My SanDisk card works fine in my MP3 player.
I called Dell, [I just received my Axim X3i last Saturday by the way] and they are sending me a new one. It should arrive TODAY or MONDAY. I will post a reply again to see if the new one works. Sounds like this might be a problem.

Call Dell and have them exchange it. They were very accomodating.
Good Luck,
jennifer
