Touch Screen
Has anyone noticed their touch screen acting funny. I play ZioSoft Golf on my X3i and I've noticed it does not always recognize the tap the entire time. I had the X5 and never encountered that problem.

Thanks,
Todd

Thats weird. Try re-aligning the screen.

It's just on my golf game, but it worked fine on my X5.

what OS did you have on your X5? do the system requirements for your game say it is compatible with WM 2003? wouldn't think it would make TOO much of a difference. but you never know.

I've have/had a similar problem???
Yesterday, my Axim's touch screen would not repsond in any program. The D-pad and all buttons worked. Performed a soft reset and still no response from the touch screen. Called Dell Support (waited 20 min on hold) and was instructed to perform soft reset and still nothing. I was told to remove battery for two minutes. Placed battery back and still no repsonse. Peformed hard reset and still no response. Dell is sending me a new X3i and I should see it on Thursday. I left the battery out of the Ax overnight. Today I put back together and it isworking!? I have reloaded everything and so far so good. Anyone experience that problem?

same problem
I have the same problem with the display. It was working fine when I first got it and then I changed to my hi capacity battery and the screen won't respond. I did soft resets and even hard resets.

All the buttons work, but not the screen.

I;ll try taking the battery out overnight.

It seems this axim is a lot more finiky than the X5. I've had the backup battery low problem and now this. Ug

back to del it goes
Hi again,

I tried soft reset, hard reset, and leaving the battery out for 24 hrs with no luck.

Spent the obligitory 20 minutes on the phone with dell and they are sending me a new replacement in "7-10 business days".

I asked the chick if this is a frequent problem, to which she replied, "...it's not a frequent problem, but we've seen it before..."

I know if my next unit has a problem, I think I'll return it for a refund and look elsewhere.

I thought he was crazy
Hi Everyone,

After getting a new Axim on the way from Dell, I looked at the usa dell forums and found some people with the same screen freeze problem I had.

It turns out that the screen protector was caught under the edge of the screen causing the screen to "freeze"

Just thought I'd let everyone know.

I'm a tech vet and this one caught me by suprise.

Andy

That's happened quite a few times with the X5, too.

This just happened with my new X5 (had it about a week). It worked fine yesterday, then I went to look up something last night and there was no response from the touch screen. Buttons and display worked fine, just no touch/tap commands. Tech support suggested soft/hard resets, taking out the screen protector, and downloading a ROM update, but none worked. Luckily Dell has a new one on the way to me as well.

The touchscreen is different between the x5, Handspring Visor, and the x3. There's more give (gel) throughout on the x5 and Visor so taps are more consistent. Notice there is more give closer to the edges of the x3 compared with the middle. Between wifi problems and digitizer, I'm settling for a poorly designed touchscreen. After 3 replacements, they are settling in the same - inconsistant on the right edge. Very noticeable when paging up and down. It behaves poorly when not used (cool) vs. charging (warm).
