Backup battery fluctuates
Should the backup battery fluctuate? Yesterday I was using my ax throughout the day (downloading data) and charging at times in my car. However now and then the backup battery indicator was at 90%, after charging the main battery it went back to 100%. Is that fluctuation real? tjm

I never seem to really know what the charge level is on that. Last Thursday I was changing my main battery and put the new charged one in and the $#@%$% thing did a hard rest. After it was done the backup battery was still sitting there at 100%......

backup battery dead?
Hi,

I too just got my axim X3i and after the first charge of 8 hours and using the unit for a bit, it tells me the backup battery is low.

Where is the backup battery. Under the stickers behind the main battery would be my guess.

It's weird that a "new" unit should have a bad backup battery.

hmmmm

andy--Others have reported that it takes the backup battery a long time to charge and then it doesn't show 100%. Sometime when you are not using your Ax, keep it on the charger.

i'll try that (stupid backup battery ;)
Yeah,

Silly me, after posting, I checked and saw that many many people are having similar problems.

I'd like to know what kind of "backup" battery they are using. Usually electronic items use a CR-2039 (watch battery), but I wonder if they use another weird one.

I'll make sure to leave it on the charger when I'm not using it (it's probably good a place to store it anyway)

The X3i battery is a builtin rechargable battery, and not user changable, that I know of.

software or hardware?
i wonder if it is a problem with the operating system or bios of the axim or if its a physical problem with the charging system / battery.

Me too, 80% all the time. Well, except for the first 15 min. after I remove it from the cradle, that is the only time it shows 100%.

I want to believe this is a software issue, because, other than that, my X3i has been pretty good.
