Does your x3 require soft reset sometimes?
Don't really know why but sometimes my x3i likes to freeze, requiring a soft reset. Maybe its due to some software Im using. I've installed lots of Today screen ppc apps and games etc. It happens maybe once a day, none if im lucky.

Question, am I alone on this? Or should I just get a replacement?

I don't have an X3i (yet), but frequent soft resets on any PPC are very common. They're the result of memory leaks from poorly written applications. See http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...t=soft+re set and http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...t=soft+re set for more info.

Resetting it is often necessary. Sometimes because of bad software but I get the impression that the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system still is very immature.

Once I was looking at my notes (nothing special) and the device just froze... really odd. I blame Micro$oft for this.

Luckily soft resetting does not appear to do any harm and it works every time...

It seems like after a soft reset it takes about 10 seconds for the x3 to respond. It paints the today screen but will not let you do anything. I always think that it is locked up but it eventually comes back. That never happened on my x5. Strange because just about everything else is much faster.
