Clicking sound when volume set to mute...updates?
anyone else test to see if their speaker makes weird clicking noises when a system even sound goes off, but the volume is muted?

It is a faint click...like when you click start, or the transcriber converts..etc..etc..

When I first got my X3, I had no problems. Then I downloaded a few things (IcBar and CLaunch) and got the clicking noise you describe. Do you have these programs on your X3 also?

I just got a replacement X5 w/ 2003 and I get a click with my first screen tap after power on. After that, no problem.

Don't know why, and so far it doesn't seem to bother me much.

I noticed that also. I use WisBar Advance. I noticed that when I use WisBar Advance to mute my speaker, it really only turns the speaker volume all the way down. And I would still hear the clicking. But, when I manually go in and turn off the speaker, the clicking goes away.

It did it with no other software on it but stock software.
Using the volume bar in the start menu bar at the top.

In fact, what I determined is that it makes that clickign sound even when the sound is played with the volume on, you just don't hear it because fo the actual sound being played.

I find that strange, generally...that some people have it, but some don't. Others, in the General forum, say they have had this with all their PPC's.

Deam,

My X3i does the same thing. With the volume muted there is a very faint click when you tap the start icon, switcher bar icon, etc.

I think it's something with any CE-based device. My Hitachi ePlate (WinCE 2.11) does the same thing, whether I use Mute or just turn the volume down.
