x3i power

Hi,

Just received my new x3i with cradle. I charged the x3i for 4 hours. I used it for less then 5 minutes and I keep getting a message that the battery backup is low and needs charging. Anyone else have this problem ?

I also noticed that when I insert the "fake" sd card, my axim powers on automatically. Is this normal ?

thanks,

sylvestor

the backup batt is rechargeable, but it takes a long time to fully charge it, so you will get warnings about it until then.

Regarding the Battery

I would check to make sure that the Back up battery is seated correctly. I had that problem when I first got my AX and found the battery not seated well. As for the Plastic cover/slot filler.....that is not normal at all. If it were me I would watch things close and if you find you need to return it do it while it is still "new" to you.
Just my .37cents worth.

wmrawls is incorrect telling you to check to make sure your backup battery is seated correctly. You cannot access your BUB on the X3 models. Yes, it has been reported that the BUB takes a long time to charge up.

thanks for all your responses.

Another strange thing I noticed was when I turned my computer on this morning, my 3xi that was sitting in the cradle powered on. Is this normal ?

thanks,

sylvestor

If you have an X3i the backup battery is rechargable, and Astounded is right, it takes a while to charge after the main battery has been fully charged.

YES IT IS NORMAL for it to turn on when you put in the SD card.

The X3i will stay on in the cradle if you have it set to do so. Go into the power settings and change the setting for "On external power". I have mine set to 15 minutes. You can manualy turn it off if you don't want it on.

On my X5, the unit does not turn on when I insert the dummy sd card. It does when the real one is inserted. Perhaps the X3 works differently.

When you power on your computer, Active sync by default will look for a connected device and wake it up if it is in the cradle.
