Has anyone been able to connect to an SMC2652W access point?
WEP is enabled and I have successfully typed in the key. (I am assuming this because I have been assigned an IP from the network's DHCP server. '169.254.130.163')

Other wireless devices are able to connect to this WAP (laptops equipped with 802.11b cards) however I am unable to ping or browse to the Internet or to the network.

I have tried "Internet" and "Work" for the card and connection, still no dice.

The firmware for this AP has been updated to the latest. I'm just curious to see if anyone has been able to connect and get out onto the 'Net with this SMC AP model with 128bit WEP implemented.

Cheers,
Mason

I do not think you connecting to the AP. The 169. IP is the default IP address. Unless you have changed settings on your AP, The IP address on the device should be 192.168.1.XXX. ARe you broadcasting your SSID. I have noticed that the Dells have some problems with some APs not broadcasting the IP. Once you are connected to the AP you should definitely be able to ping the APs IP address.

Broadcasting SSID
I think we are as the SSID is showing a string in my "profiles" (i.e. 'My Company' when performing the "Site Survey" in the Dell wireless utility.)

If you are seeing the SSID, re-enter your WEP key to make sure it is entered correctly. Check your laptop or desktop to see what IP address they are obtaining. The IP on your device should follow the first 3 group of numbers of the laptop or desktop with the last group being different.
