Pocketop or Belkin keyboard with X3???
Does anyone know if the Pocketop or the Belkin keyboards work with the X3? I'm leaning toward getting the Dell because I know it will work- but would rather have wireless- what do you think?

The Pocketop works fine, but there isn't a fully functional driver for it. There's a driver that works, available on one of these threads that works fine, but doesn't do the screen rotation, so you can only type in portrait mode. I use Nyditot Virtual Display to get it to landscape mode and it works finel.

Also a word of warning on the Pocketop. . . it's small. The keyboard is a little cramped, which may pose a problem if you're a fast touch typist.

I have a Belkin and it works fine with both my X5 and my X3i. Keep in mind, however, that many people have had difficulties getting it to work. If you do get it, make sure there is a good return policy.

It does list the X3 in their compatibility list, but also says "Screen Rotation not available on PC2003."

Great keyboard though. Have fun with it.

Don't feel so bad...the Belkin driver does not support screen rotation either! Maybe a WM2003 thing?

I don't think it's a WM2003 thing because according to Pocketop's compatibility chart, other WM2003 devices are listed that are WM2003. I guess it's an Axim thing.

I am hoping that they will update their drivers in the future to allow screen rotation, until then, there are other screen rotation options such as Nyditot and Pocketop, but do some research on these forums before loading them. Both are not without risks.

What kind of risks? Hardware or software? Since my X3 is new can I just experiment with these options and if they don't work, just reload the OS?

What is Nyditot?

Well, according to the Belkin site, the drivers I am using ARE for WM2003.

Well, people have had bad experiences with both Dotpocket and Nyditot and have been very vocal about them. I tried Dotpocket and it was very unstable for me. It would freeze up, requiring a soft reset, and once, gave me a blank screen, so I removed it. Nyditot Virtual Display was much more stable, although they give you a warning to backup your device in the event a hard reset is necessary (not very reassuring, but apparently a real-world possibility), everything went smoothly and it appears to be very stable and useful. Your mileage may vary.

You're right in that with a new unit, you can load either, play with it, and if a hard reset is necessary, you won't have much data to lose.

You can get Nyditot at http://www.nyditot.com

Best of luck,

Ron
