Am I reading this wrong or is this just an update for language help files?

"Dell AXIM X3 Drivers Patch (112403) This patch contains the localization update of Wireless Lan driver UI/help files for following languages: German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese"

It says, "contains the localization update of Wireless Lan driver UI/help files". UI is the User Interface for the WLAN drivers. So this sounds like there is indeed an update of some sort for the actual interface for the Wireless LAN. I don't have my X3i on me at the moment, but I'll definately install later.

Already on my Axim, did all three updates no problems. One of the patches is a ROM update and the Two others are able to be removed in the system add/remove programs icon. One is called X3 (111303) and the other is called X3 (112403... in the remove programs area. I don't know if I am seeing things, but Wi-Fi seems to connect faster. I don't notice anything else with Wi-Fi, but I think the screen refreshes faster. Lets here from the rest of you.

I only see the 112403 update. Of course, I think the other update only applies to older Axim's.

Anyone know what it means when it says the ROM update is to "disable channels 12-14"?

The original Wi-Fi firmware scanned from channel 1 thru 14, but do to FCC rules the firmware must be altered so not to use channel 12,13,14. That is at least what I got form Dell tech support.

Axim X3 Drivers Patch WLAN User Interface Localization (A00/112403)

This is only for updating the UI for localization. It's like getting rid of more memory space....

If you are in the U.S. you won't get more channels because there won't be anything else for your Axim to connect to. FCC regulations only allow the first 11 channels for WiFi. (Sounds like Dell may be having some fines accessed for noncompliance.) Having your X3 search for channels that aren't active will just slow down the scan for access points.

I have installed both patches A00/111303 and A00/112403 and can see both in Settings/system/remove programs. However when I look at Settings/system/System information it still shows A00 (09100300EN). Usually with ROM updates this info changes. Should it with patches?

I have the same system info as you I think. I also found this patch. Dell Patch 70304 I think this mite be the same as the 303.

Take a look it was on the Dell site, very confusing why would they be so stupid and name them like that.
