X3i backup battery drain

I left my Axim X3i charging overnight. I hardly used it today. Just turned it on tonight and the main battery shows 97% but the backup battery shows 80%. It was 100% this morning. Is this normal for the backup battery to drain so quickly?

I believe Dell.com has an update that fixes that issue.

Yeah, strange. My main battery never reaches 100% and it constantly says that my backup battery is low. I am gonna look for that update and check back here

Me too...

I dunno, my backup battery has been draining on it's own for at least a week now even though my main battery was juiced (I earlier erronously attributed this to BatteryPack).

I installed the new Dell driver(s), but it did nothing (that update is for charging the backup battery, that is for some it was "taking a long time" to recharge it--nothing to do with it draining to quickly though).

I'm in contact with Dell about it and trying different things, but I truly have no idea. The main battery also appears to be draining faster.

How do you get a percentage for your backup battery?

percentage...

There are a couple of ways:

1) BatteryPack today-plugin, or other 3rd Party program

OR

2) Click on --> Settings/System/System Information. Close that. Then open up PocketWord, click "SysInfo" under My Documents--it will display the percentage for both batteries as well as a bunch of other info.

Basically to update that SysInfo file, you have to open up System Information. Kind of a pain, but it works well enough.

My backup battery always shows up as 80% even after leaving it in the cradle overnight. It sometimes shows up as 100% but quickly goes back to 80%. I thought the backup batter kicked in if the main battery was drained, I didn't think it got used when the device was in stand by or off.

JB22, that's exactly what mine does--it's 100% on the cradle and drops to 80% within 20 mins of being off the cradle (regardless if the PPC is on or not).

Weird. Well at least I'm not the only one...

Do any other X3(i) users have this problem/issue?

Hmm

Same for me--I think. . . .

My standard battery is at 95%, and depending whom you ask, the backup is at may or may not be at 80%. I know it was at 100% when I took it out of the dock this morning.

I seem to get different stats for the backup battery depending where I look, though:

-Start > Settings >System > Power shows it as Normal.

-Launching Start > Settings >System > System Information, and then closing System Information and viewing My Documents\SysInfo shows that the backup battery is at 100%

-Start > Programs > System Info (not sure where this came from. I think it installed with Resco File Explorer) shows that the backup battery is at 80%.

Odd that I get different information in different places, but at least we're all in a similar boat.

My backup battery drains when off the cradle for a minute or so as well, when the device is on or off. This shouldn't happen, as the backup battery should only kick in when they main battery is removed or completely looses a charge. Currently, everything says 60% backup battery on my device.

I read somewhere that the rechargable backup battery used in the x3 is of a type that it is very difficult to get an accurate/consistent reading for its charge level.... I wonder if that might explain this effect, rather than it actually discharging?
