Transcend 2.2GB CFII Microdrive
I was just about to purchase a Magicstor 2.2 GB CF card when, thankfully, I decided to see if anyone had anything to say about it, specifically with the Axim. And as it happens, this card apparently does not work on the Axim runnin PPC2003. Good thing I checked!

So, while searching for alternatives, I came across this one:

http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/pro...roducts_id=390

Transcend 2.2 GB Microdrive for $199!! Even cheaper than the Magicstor!

So, the $199 question is: Has anyone tried THIS one with their PPC 2003 Axim X5? And does it work? Or will it suffer from the same stupid problem as the Magicstor?

I read (I believe even here on aximsite) that the microdrives are pretty loud and battery hogs... just keep that in mind!

i posted a similar question about this a few days ago... i'm thinking the CF+ format is not supported even though it is a type ][ card. it will fit but the drivers may not work...

the microdrives are fairly decent, but the motors are always on, very similar to a hard drive so battery may be an issue if you forget to charge the unit the night before. also, since it is a drive mechanism it is prone to skipping like anyother external hd.

I have one of the Magicstors, and I have to hold it up to my ear to find out when it is on. I don't think they are to loud at all. The battery life is less, but I have the extended battery, and have never had a problem with power.

About the brand, I would bet all my milk money it is a Magicstor with a different piece of paper glued to the front. If the return policy of the store is good, give it a try. If not, I wouldn't risk it.
