Wireless Hardware Problem?
Hi All---

I just got my new X3i and I am really enjoying it as well as this site...it is really a great resource! I can't believe how easy it connected to my wireless network.

Anyway, I have noticed on several occasions, I am unable to turn on the wireless connection. I press the button and nothing happens. The only way I have found to solve the problem is to do a soft reset. Additionally, I just noticed that excluding the power button, none of the other buttons work! That is, the calendar, home, etc. buttons are not functioning. Is this a hardware issue?

Thanks for any and all replies.

Cheers.

BD

check the settings you have for the buttons and make sure they are correct. are you running anything that may be causing a conflict?

Thanks for the reply. I actually determined that it is the program "remover" that is causing a conflict. When that program is open, I am unable to get the buttons to work.

Thanks again.

Cheers.

I too am having several issues with the WIFI connecting to an AP. 10% of the time, I can turn the Ax on and it finds and connects to the local AP, the other 90% of the time, it does not. I notice that if the blue light does not come on and start blinking right away, then it is not going to connect. I must end all programs, be running on battery, disable wireless with the button, disable radio using the signal meter, then re-enable everything and sooner or later it will connect. I have to do the SOOOO MUCH it is starting to piss me off.

Another problem I have and HATE is when I go to use my Socket Bluetooth card to connect to the internet via my T-Mobile phone, 10% of the time, I can just click on PIE and it dials and works, the other 90% of the time, I have to delete the partnership on BOTH the phone and the Ax, dick with this and that, delete, re-discover, blah blah blah and give up, then it will work 20 mins later (sometimes). If I use it and power the Ax off and then back on again in a few minutes, forget it..VERY frustrating.

I did find that you can switch AIM to port 80 on the PPC and connect using T-Mobile without fail, don't even have to pay for internet access at all! WOOHOO!

Anyone else have these issues?!?!

I recently got an Axim 3i myself and found that although the AP signal strength is about 40% in site manager, I can only occasionally connect to it. Often times I need to be in the same room as the AP and even then with high signal strength I cannot connect. Settings are fine and I've tried this with multiple APs. I'm beginning to think this WIFI card isn't all it's cracked up to be... Ben....

Welcome to the club of X3i owners that can't get their WiFi to work consistently. There are other threads on this board detailing the pain many of us have been through.

I've read numerous articles saying this is the easiest to connect via wifi but so far its been dissappointing

My wifi connection works 80% when i'm sitting next to the router but when its farther away.. its 50/50

Have you tried disabling the powersave mode on your wireless card? I have great range and consistency of connection with my X3i, even through walls and outside.

I've turned off all power saving features of the PDA since I'll have two different cradles and don't travel very often. Still no dice. Is the problem something to do with the integrated hardware, or is it some kind of OS/driver issue?... BFWISSEL....
