Just got an i3 (Xmas), started playing with it, put on screen protector, tap screen doesn't work. Tried soft reset numerous times, took off screen protector, etc. Nothing. Tried hard reset - nothing to lose as no files, will tap once when it says to set up, then tap to align but it won't tap anymore. I have a great warranty but I don't want to send it back. I just got it! Can it be fixed? What is wrong with it?
I had the same problem after I had to do a hard reset.
Tapping was not enough, I had to tap and hold for up to 2 seconds until the cursor moved to its next position.
I got it to work. I also went to the Dell Community Forum and it appears to happen a lot, along with a bunch of other troubling things. Several people suggested actually squeezing the screen, which I did, and the tap worked again. I am very leary, however, and believe I will get a new one anyway. A problem in the first hour of operation is kind of like buying a new car with an occassional knock. You just never know. Thanks.
Often times I hear you say "You've got a warranty, use it." That's the problem, we shouldn't have to use our warrenties to get new ones every 5 minutes, it should just work.
Hmmmmmm............funny, that..........I really don't recall having said that before. But I guess I could be mistaken.
But you have to take these things in context, think of these Forums like the evening news. You hear alot of the bad things going on, a few of the good, but rarely the every-day "things are going along just as they should".
Out of the tens or hundreds of thousands sold, there are going to be some that have problems, on these Forums the "problem children" are the ones who want attention. And if it's new and if it came From Dell.........you should use your warranty.
That's what it's for.
