Mad Also having problems with AS

Myself and one of my nieghbors are both new to PDAs and both have new Axim X3s. Both are having problems with activesync when you put information directly into the axim and not into your pc and then syncing. So if I put new contacts into the Axim and then try and sync it starts running but then says it can't sync and to try disconnecting and then reconnecting which never works. I have a Dell inspiron 5100 laptop which I am hooking the cradle to trough the USB and have McAfee Virus protection. It becoming a real problem and kind of defeats the whole purpose of why I wanted a PDA in the first place (not having to lug my laptop around). I already have AS 3.7.1 running and would appreciate any help.

Are you running Windows XP? There's a problem with McAfee AntiVirus 7.0 and Windows XP's TCP/IP stack. See the following link (especially item 41): http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/activesync/syncerrors.htm

Hmm

It's the latest version of MCAfee so I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it would be the one causing the problem and I am using XP. Thanks for the link, but is their anyway to resolve the problem without uninstalling my virus protection (Im in grad school and our servers get hit regularly) and will this resolve the problem just through running uninstall?

Thanks
