I am done with the Dell X3i
My X3i has crashed again and to top it all off I have another hardware issue. The black plastic inside the terminal connection broke off exposing the wires. Now every time I set the unit in the cradle or use a travel sync cable the wires bend. I have to bend the wires straight after every sync. I also have to soft reset to get the unit to sync. This Sucks! But this is not the only hardware prroblem I have had. When I first received my X3i some 67 days ago I had problems with the casing feeling loose. Dell replaced the unit but the replacement unit had the same looseness. I held on to the unit because this to me was not a major issue. However, shortly after this the jog dial broke loose rendering itself useless. Dell again replaced the unit. Again, after this problem the right wireless button broke free. Another replacement. I did not have a proble again until the current terminal problem. But this is it. I also own and use an X5 advance and even with the jog dial missing from it I have not had any major hardware problems. The X3i seems cheap and unreliable.

I have purchased an Ipaq 4155 and innopocket hard case in hope that I will once and for all have a reliable PPC. I have been using a PPC for years and have become to rely on having my data always available. I plan to continue using my X5 but the X3i is headed for ebay. I still love the layout of the X3i I just can't count on it.

yeah that insanity just sounds ridiculous. I prefer the X5 myself but these hardware issues with the buttons don't sound common for the X3 at all.

how is it that you lost two jog dials on both axims, plus the X3i wireless button?? with that kind of wear it sounds like you need a rhinoskin titanium....

Dell told me that the button issue was not common for the X3i also. The jog dial remained intact it just did not function. It just clicked one day and laid there lifeless. The wifi button on the other hand was almost like a loose tooth from day one.

The jog dial on the X5 just broke. I used it constantly.
