Problems with the infrared port
I have an X3 and have tried beaming to 2 seperate X5s with out any luck. They could beam to each other. I have checked the setting and receive beams is checked. I have also tried beaming to my laptop running Windows 2000. Is there any way to check to see if the port is actually working or if it is not? I am still waiting for a reply from Dell.

I sometimes use IR to connect via mobile phone. To check it works I use Settings/Connection/Beam. Tap on Receive an infrared beam.

You get a red topped screen' beam' and underneath a status report.

Looking for sending devices

Establishing connection

To check sending. You need to have Settings/Connections/Connections set up with add a new modem connection (Generic IR)

With mine I would not have ASync running or Wireless

Tap Manage existing connections. Tap and hold your IR connection tap connect and you should see a bubble from the top of the screen giving you connection status.

I expect you know most of this but hope it helps

Hard reset
I ended up doing a hard reset and that solved the problem until I loaded bluetooth back on to the Axim. The infrared stopped working then. I am waiting to here from dell.

You may have COM port contentions between the bluetooth driver and the IR driver. Try changing the COM port for your bluetooth driver.

That worked
Thanks! It was a Com Port problem. Bluetooth deactivated the infrared port.
