Unrecognized (Integrated) wireless card?
I've had my Axim X3i for a month now. For that month I was able to scan the area for local networks and connect to both my home and school wireless networks. Then one day in class all I did was press the power button on and off. Now whenever i go to enable the wireless card it says "Unrecognized Card: Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information, see the card manufacturer's documentation." It has an open box for adding a name. I've tried puttin "Dell TruMobile 1200 WLAN" in there but nothing happens. Diagnostics don't work because they want the WLAN to be enabled to test it which can't be done because the Axim can't find it. It's kinda the chicken and the egg senerio here. I've soft and hard reset with no luck. When trying to enable the WLAN LED lights a couple times and then the error comes up. So i do believe there is power and a connection to that integrated part. Please someone help....I will try anything..

install the update that addresses this issue on dell.com's website. It fixes this and other issues.

I installed the ROM update and there is no change. The problem still occurs. Thanks though.

I'm having the EXACT same problems as you, bigredsign. And the update didn't help me either (though the description of the update certainly sounded promising).

Does your screen go crazy when you "try" to enable the integrated wireless too? If I leave it 'enabled', though it doesn't function, my screen seems to go crazy like it has the v-sync off.

Please please tell me if you find a fix for it.

Thanks and good luck!

I called in and got a replacement (arrived less than 8hrs after I called, which is amazing) but I'm REALLY concerned about what may happen when my warranty is up. It doesn't seem like the replacement (which is working now) is definitely free from this wifi bug, judging by the people who have received a replacement that promptly replicated the wifi defect... And I don't especially like the idea of having to replace my Axim every few months possibly. I've only had mine for a few months and haven't put it to much use and already it had to be replaced. I'm just very concerned about what might happen a few months from now, especially with all the bad experiences I've had with Dell's support lately.

... I just hope they either come up with a sure fix for this problem fast (people have been reporting it in forums since about Nov/2003, earliest I've seen) or suitably reimburse those who have had to deal with it so far.
