X3i, wifi and pie - grrrrrrr!

I have perused the x3i hardware thread (only for 10 minutes) but haven't seen this issue.

I just received a new x3i.

When I enable wifi, I can connect to my router (MS Broadband) but when I start up pie, it looks to start loading a page then freezes. Sometimes it just goes away into abyss. Using the Dell switcher, I select it again but it won't come into focus. I try starting pie again from the start menu but it just beeps at me and does nothing.

Other programs still work intermittantly.

This morning, it froze up. I clicked the Dell Switcher, it dropped down the menu and froze it. I clicked the start menu, it dropped it down and froze it.

Anyone else seeing issues like this? Is this status quo or am I dealing with a burnt potato chip?

PS - pie works great surfing avantgo pages with wifi disabled.

Things I've tried:
- did the click in corner, edit profiles thing - didn't help
- set power mode to disable - didn't help

You've done the soft reset, right? I think I need to reboot mine about 3 times a week if I start using wireless.

I soft reset regularly.

One thing I did find was that I had set my homepage default to 'current' and current was my avantgo page. I set it back to default and browsing started to work. I had to run to work and didn't have time to really test it but will post further once I do.

Hmm, there may be a compatability issue with that particular router. I would check out Microsoft's Knowledge Base on it. Also if you're using a type of encryption called WPA-TKIP, that isn't compatible with the X3i. If that's the case, change the encryption type to WEP-64 or WEP-128 and that should do the trick.
