Start Menu Slow!

Has anyone had the following situation! After a soft reset or a Sync, there is a delay when taping on the start button. The delay can be as long as 5 or 6 seconds. Once the delay is over everything works fine.

In some cases I have seen this. In the system registry animation is turned on for the Start Menu when it appears. When you click on Start the menu animates on the screen. Animation can take some CPU power and can drag if CPU resources are already taxed.

There is a registry tweak to turn off animation for the Start Menu. It is the fix all for you but it is something that maybe you would like to try to speed up the Start Menu.

I am running 2003, And I did the hack, but no change. Any other ideas?

I see the same thing happening to me but mine responds far quicker than yours. Mine might take around 1 or 2 seconds to respond to a screen tap. Are you running Wisbar Advance?
Do you have run Wisbar Advance on Soft reset checked?

I am running Wisbar Advance, not the newest one, a version before, Not sure about that setting, how should it be set?

This also happened to me since I upgraded until about a month ago. Here's what I did:

I downloaded a program called "Check Notifications" by ScaryBearSoftware. It removed notification events that are generated every time you soft reset and keep building up. I use it to delete those notification bugs every time I soft reset.

I also changed my Processor speed from PowerSave mode to Auto. I never thought that Auto would make a difference in speed, but it does. It uses a bit more battery power than PowerSave, but it is clearly worth it in terms of speed.

Now my Axim is fast and there is a 1 second delay between tapping on the Start menu and having it show up whereas it used to be about 5-6 seconds like yours.

I have Check notifications, but it never deletes anything. I have 15 notifications, and they don't change. I also have the program set in startup to delete notifications.

Which notifications are safe to remove manualy?
