more strange wifi behaviour
Hi

I received my X3I on Friday and have spent most of the weekend wanting to throw it out of the window.

I have a DLink DWL-2000 AP 802.11g &b access point which works fine with my laptop. When I switched the Axim on it picked up the SSID without problems but when I go to Settings, Connections, Wireless Ethernet it shows as "Available" rather than "Connected". When I try to Connect it just goes back to available again.

I've tried both with DHCP and manually assigning an IP address. However, the crazy thing is that if I go into the Dell WLAN Utility and click on Site Survey its shows me with a 100% connection to my SSID but on the status tab it has an IP of 0.0.0.0 and is constantly channel scanning (but never picks the channel i'm on, even when i keep changing channels)

I've read previous posts about mentioning the AP details. I'm hoping someone else has a DWL-2000 that can help dispell my thoughts that its the AP and not the Axim

On a second point, I bought a "Socket" BT SDIO card at the same time and whilst that is working it seems that as soon as it hits a problem the BT stack dies and the blue logo disappears, then it takes a good 30 minutes to get it back again with constant soft reboots. Anyone else having similar problems ?

Thanks

Tony

when you try to connect do you tap and hold the connection and then select connect? or are you just tapping?

maybe someone should teach classes on the tap shuffle

jpmarth,

Thanks for the reply. I'm tapping and holding and choosing Connect.

Just to let people know:

DLink DWL2000AP, with firmware 2.05b4 (Dec 19th 2003), broadcasting the SSID seems to get me a working connection now.

I just need to find out how to persuade the Axim that I dont have a Proxy server as I use XP's Internet Connection Sharing but the actual LAN access is working

Thanks

Tony
