Storage Card Shrinking?!!!
I just happened to check my Storage card today and noticed that it is showing I only have 34.81 "Total Storage card memory" on my 64MB card (that came with the Axim).

I have installed the latest ROM upgrade, but it still shows this way!

Any ideas?

Do you have a card reader on your PC? See what it says.

Also, see if there are any hidden files on it (I use Resco) and just have it to show all files (check options in whatever file viewer you use).

The Axim does not come with a "Storage Card" (unless you purchased one as an option).

What you are reading is the Built In Storage (BIS) which is the ROM and is also where the OS is stored which is what's "eating up" all that space.

The 34.81 that's left over is what we get to play with (BIS).

Maybe I misspoke. When I pull up the Settings->Memory>Storage Card screen, it tells me my "Total storage card memory" is 34.81 MB. Today when I placed another card in from a friend at work, the same screen read it as "120 MB", even though it was a 128MB card.

well if you are turning up 34MB total for a 64MB SD card, something is wrong with the card.

120MB for a 128MB card is normal. the 8MB are used by formatting, though better cards will give you 122MB.

The 120 mb reading is right. It's a bit strange the way companies rate the size of their cards. They measure a megabyte as 1000 kilobytes, when it is actually 1024. This is why there is a size discrepency (sp?) The axim is right with the 128 meg card though.

As for your 64 meg card, it should be showing something more like 60 or so megs. You may want to try reformatting it using storage tools or another application.

Edit: Damn I'm a slow typer, beaten to it again EEG is also right about the formating, it takes up about 1-2 megs on the card I believe.

You are not looking at an SD card. You are looking at the Built-In storage. If you have an SD card inserted, you will have a choice in the drop down box between storage card and built-in storage. If not, then your only option will be built-in storage (unless you have network drives mapped, then you'll also have a network option). My 64MB SD card reads 59MB total storage, my built-in storage reads 34.81 total storage.

I had a similar problem with my CF card (PNY 256Meg). I just moved all of the files to a temp folder on the hard drive and reformatted the card. Problem solved.
