Is it with a single theme or all themes?
If just one theme, it may be corrupted. Redownload it.
Are you using an animated theme with something that doesn't support them?

Have you tried a ROM update? I don't know if your device will need one but it might just be a bug.
You can download from Dell or from this site (I think). Just make sure you get the right one!

The only other thing I can think of is storing (or more accurately not storing) .tsk files on an SD Card.
I did have some trouble opening picture files stored on a card, I wonder if this might be a similar problem?

I am not sure if putting them in the wondows folder is good or bad. I keep mine in a folder on my CF card. I use SW to manage my themes, Theme King Plus, and it allows me to put my themes anywhere. So, my themes are in \CF\themef in folders here by group, like \CF\themef\cartoons,...
You might try putting them in your My Documents either in main memory or on a CF card (I had problems with them on an SD card).
Check the size of your themes. Most of my regular themes are less than 30K. Some up to the 60Ks and a couple higher. I have some that are really big, 200K or bigger. These are animated themes, and most slow down my Axim. The most noticable thing is slow start up of applications, and the transcriber doesn't work very well.

You also might want to look at what else is running? How much program memory you have available.

Let me know if this helps.
