Mad Ok I've HAD it. Are there any answers?

When someone buys something they want it to work like it was advertised to work. I don't want to have to screw around with this patch or this registry fix or this option. DANG IT! This sucks. Just recieved my axim. Powered it up after a good long 14 hour charge. Went to a cafe with free wifi and bam, it connected and I was surfing....for two minutes and then it crashed. Got it back up again after fidling around with I don't know what and it worked pretty well for ten minutes. I shut the wifi off, went to word and used a infrared keyboard and tried to connect again. The axim shoved the "Unrecognized (Integrated) wireless card" in my face and since then I've done nothing but read through the posts about what almost worked for this person or what kinda but didnt really work for another. Symptoms are the same as every other person who has the problem. Authorizing forever, saying its connected when its not, and page not found. I've done every stupid option change and still nothing. What really pisses me off is all the stuff I've ordered to go along with the pda that if I shove it back at Dell I have to keep. Anyway, besides that I think it might have something to do with the Infrared port. I know some people mentioned theirs screwing up after using the Ir port. Interesting note...my Axim says A06 under the battery. Is this the most current? Cause its still the same ol CRAP! Anyway I havent tried the rom update yet so if anyone has it and would like to link me to it that would be great. Any ideas for me would be great to. I have read so many posts about this problem and I feel for every one of you. We shouldnt have to deal with this. This is obviously an AXIM problem. So forget about the routers. You shouldnt have to try to make them work, they should just work. Isn't that how business is supposed to work? Apparently not at DELL.

There ARE some compatibility issues around routers etc. that are specific to the networking technology integration across most PDAs. But I would agree that the X3i wifi is weak.

Initially I though that the problems were really between the stylus and the chair but now I'm also thinking that it's a genuine issue.

FWIW my 4150 just works. I do networking for a living so any configuration issues I can get around easily enough, but it's just trouble free surfing. I don't feel I'd have the same success rate on the X3i.

Right exactly I see what your saying so add the compatibility problems and then multiply that by the thing just refusing to work and you get this. You probably know far more than me about networking and if your confused what chance do I have. I'm sure the general public is going to know anything about this crap. Any ideas?

Yep:

Buy another PDA
-or-
Wait for the ROM update to be re-released. Rumour has it that the ROM update had positive effects on wifi performance. Not sure why it was pulled...
