Update from TomTom!
Had two responses today from Tom Tom support relating to my request as to whether the X3i Bluetooth was compatable with my TomTom 2 hardware & software.

Response 1:
We are not aware of an issue with the Dell Axim X3i running PPC2003

Response 2 (received a couple of hours later):
The Axim 3i is still under test by our product team, so at this moment in time we are unable to comment on its compatibility

Based on my experiences with trying to get the thing to work, I'm probably better able to comment on its compatability.

I am due a free upgrade to TomTom 3 later this month, if that doesn't work with the X3i then its going on Ebay and I'll get a HP4150 (which I should have done in the first place really).

My advice for what its worth - if you want to run Tom Tom software and hardware, then don't buy a Dell Axim X3i BT.

Perhaps you can join the HP4150site.com when you get your new PPC

I wanted to like the X3i, honestly!
I really wanted to like the X3i, honestly I did - I run a network support company here in the UK and recommend and install Dell server and PC kit regularly as its good value and seems to work well.

We also have a HP5550 and a TomTom 2 bluetooth set up and that works perfectly (it has also never given a problem on my wireless network).

The X3i BT came out top value in a computer magazine review (PCPro) which is why we bought one. Its a nice compact unit and feels solid, but its nowhere near as good as the Ipaq stuff in my opinion.

Its been nothing but hassle quite honestly (starting from when Dell delivered the wrong model), and I really wish we'd just gone for the HP.

I really should have researched a lot better before buying, and after reading details of the wi-fi and other problems in this forum, I now REALLY wish I'd gone for the 4150.

I'll persevere for a while, but I have this feeling I'm not going to be able to crack this one and its going to have to go....

I think most of the wifi issues regarding the A5/A3 on this board are 2002/2003 software issues not hardware issues.

If you notice, since marcpriest or whatever his name is , posted the welcome.exe fix, there has been no or little wifi help posts - this seemed to solve all the problems so it seems to me it`s in the software - although it could be DELL software!!!!!!!
