Cannot connect using wifi...
I have several wireless networks showing up detected... Linksys, nimmi, and even Golden Egg but, I cannot connect. It asks me to set up the connection.

Most networks are secured, which is why you cannot connect. Do you have your own wireless network you are trying to connect to? Give us more information.

No, I don't have my own wireless network LOL. I just have three networks that pop up when, I'm at home.

SOL

those 3 networks are probably secured, so you can't actually connect to them without a WEP password.

Just wander into their house and reset the password on the router.

Look in the dell wlan utility under the "site survey" tab you will see each network it has found. If the padlock is open it is not secured. If the padlock is closed you are SOL. Of course you could always kindly ask your neighbor for the WEP code.

even if it's not using WEP, they could be still using MAC filtering.

Funny thing is, I woulda let him mooch a little, but he never ASKED permission, just thought it was his right to suck my bandwidth...

Man that is messed up brock_thomas_s, how old is this neighbor of yours? I wonder how long he had been tapping into your network? If you had any shared files he would have been able to access them as well. Serves been right for acting like he has a right to use your broadband at no charge. I feel using someone network to check a email or so real fast isn't a bad thing to do and if it gets closed off from my access than i just cut my loses but to come and complain to the person i am using the broadband from for free it just wrong in my eyes.

I am not sure on your router but i can set certain times of the day people can access a specified IP address of mine to use and limit the bandwidth that IP can use. Maybe you should do that. Better yet, have it totally open for him to use but then cut the bandwidth limit for him to use to 14.4k,lol. He will have internet so he can't complain but it will be 3 times SLOWER then 56k,hehe. I bet you that would piss him off even more

Shouldn't have to do that. Are you sure it was the processor not the network card?

That is truly amazing. I would've told the guy he owed me for 1/2 of my broadband bill for as long as he has been siphoning and then sent him an itemized bill.
