connection with page not found
here is my problem, ive been reading all other threads and have tried some but i get no answer, i have a wireless dsl connection (2wire) and have not been able to connect dependably. most of the time i get a "page not found" notice. i have also seen what seems to be a lock at the bottom right of the screen and not the usual bars to indicate connection.

i have a dell axim 3xi, compaq presario, and gateway laptop

please help me!

When you goto profiles under site survey does it say you are connected with your network?

The locked lock means that AP has WEP encryption turned on. Have you entered in the key code in your config for that connection?

lol, at least you are now trying to keep up with technology

You have to get into your router config. To do this you usually open up internet explore on your PC. In the address bar type in....i am not sure at this point what you need to type in because of the router you have but try these. Type them in one at a time until you get one that brings up a username and password prompt.

192.168.1.1

192.168.0.1

192.168.0.0

192.168.1.0

Hopefully one of those will work. Once you get the username prompt box type in admin for the pass, nothin in the username. If that doesn't let you in type admin for username and pass. If that doesn't work try admin for username and nothin for pass.

Now if you get in you need to find a WEP section, i have no clue where it is, hopefully someon else around here has the same router as you and can help further. Anyways, once you find the WEP section you need to copy down the key code. There are usually 4 of them to choose from but you have to make sure you pick the one you have selected. The key code will probably be about 20+ characters long, so write it down exactly as you see it on a piece of paper.

Let me know if you get this far and then i will help you put the code in your x3i.

okay , this is what i did. i put in the #s on the address bar and i hit enter. i would only get errors. but then i went to 2wire.com on my pc and it showed me some key codes. im guessing it is the one that says most likely, it is 20 digits long. is that it?

I am not sure why the WEP keys would be accessable like that to anyone, hmm.

If that is the key do the following on your X3i.

Enabled wifi---tap the wifi metter at bottom right corner and tap on site survey----tap on refresh---tap on profiles--- you should see your network listed there with the word avalible next to it----tap once on it and a new screen should pop up---makes sure it is set to connect to work and NOT the internet---

at this point since i probably have a different ROM installed then you theings will be different.

Click on one of the tabs at the bottom until you find some content inside the tab talking about web encryption and such. There are boxes that are checked and unchecked. Make sure the box that says something like my access point has web encryption is CHECKED. Make sure the box that says my access point automactically provides wep key is UNCHECKED. The box with all the ******s in it will now be ungreyed so you can enter stuff in it. Copy that 522P-22P4-6262-22AT-F2NV key into it EXACTLY how it is(case sensitive). Once that is entered just hit the check/ok up in the top right corner.

You should now be back in the profile window again where you see your network name and the words avalible next to them. Tap and hold on the network you just put the code into. A menu will pop up, just hit "connect" on it. You will now see that "avalible" went away and it says connecting. If the word connecting goes back to avalible then it didn't connect, so try to connect again. Try several time until it says connected. If after several time and not being able to connect could be because you probably didn't have the right key code in.

Just keep looking for the key since you now know how to and where to put it in if you find the right one.

Good luck!!!

That's not a WEP key. WEP keys are either 26 character (for 128-bit) or 10 character (64-bit) and must be hexidecimal. Many of the letters in this are not part of hexidecimal (from the number 0 to the letter f).

Look on the bottom of the router. I'm sure they actually put a sticker on there.
