Won't connect to PC

I'm trying to connect my X3i to my parent's computer so I can move stuff around from this computer, my computer, and my work computer (have activesync installed on all of them basically). I installed the software and followed the instructions of not having the PDA in my cradle untill the software was installed and all. It simply won't see the PDA though. I'm using USB on Windows ME, and it sees the USB port, but doesn't see anything there. Any ideas?

I experienced a similar problem where I couldn't see my Axim via Explorer although it was synching and backing up ok.

If you haven't already, upgrade Activesync to v3.7.1 (build 4034). It solved my issues. You can download from Windows Mobile Website in the Downloads section.

Mine won't do anything with active sync. It is the latest version, I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Any ideas? Not being able to sync and transfer files is really limiting the usefulness...

I need a little more info: does the Ax connect or is there nothing at all?

It won't do anything at all. No connection. It says "searching for device" but doesn't find anything although the ax is on and in the cradle and the cradle is plugged in.

Did you try a different USB port on the PC? Also, you might try the Axim USB drivers from Dell's download site.

You might also check that the Regional Settings have not been corrupted/changed. AS may not recognize the Axim if either the pc or ppc do not have the original configuration.

Does the Axim sync or transfer files with the other two machines that you describe?

I tried to connect my X5 to three machines and received a message that you can only connect two machines to one PocketPC.

Hockeydude
Update? It'd be great if this sorts your problems, can you let us know?
Thanks

The 3.7 is working great. I did not even try the usb patch. Does it improve anything other than making the device connect to the computer?

Hey, that's great Hockeydude.

Yes, I find AS a bit more stable with less unresolved items using the updated version. See how you go.
