Stupid Axim Owner Tricks!
Being the genius I am, I like to keep my Axim handy when I'm doing stuff (watching TV, attending class, etc.) but unfortunately, I leave it in some of the worst places. Say, on the living room table (a room which doubles as dining room). Beer + Axim = bad, but it happened. It dumped right on top of it, and as soon as I realized it (a few milliseconds later than I would have if I hadn't been drinking), I scooped it up, tipped it upside down, and shook it a little to let the stuff drain back out. Mostly landed on the control buttons on bottom, though a little hit the screen too. I knew something was wrong when it turned itself on and started making noises (as if I was opening programs, which it probably thought I was). I wipe it dry as much as possible, and take it into my room to disassemble it so it can dry faster.
Then I realize, I haven't seen my mini screwdrivers in like three years! I loaned them to myself, and I never return anything once I borrow it, even if it's to me. So I rush to Radio Shack (who is sold out), and then to Sears, for a complete set of jewelers drivers, and rush back to my axim. About 40 minutes or so have passed in this time, and I'm afraid that the beer will have corroded the motherboard.
I get it apart, and realize that there's no moisture on the PCB. In fact, all the beer that had made it in and hadn't been shaken out was either completely dried, or it hadn't soaken in very far. I wait a while, and when I feel safe in its dryness, I reassemble it and turn it on.
IT WORKS!!!! Not only did I take something apart and get it back together in two pieces (yeah, there was a little black plastic shield that covered a small area just above the program buttons, and I forgot to get it back in there), but it took no visible damage.
So why did I get on here and tell everybody about this? Well, first, I am so relieved (and ashamed) that I just had to tell everybody. Second, this could serve as fair warning to all (as though it was necessary, as keeping liquids away from the Axim is just common sense). I'm still debating on whether or not I should open it back up to reattach this black piece.
