The endless axim problems
Well i bought my axim x3i over 2 months ago ,

The first unit had wifi problem which resulted in poor range and speed. but everything else was fine, so got replacement unit from dell.

The replacement sorted the wifi problem, now connects at 11mbps and has been fine, apart form its keeps trying to perform a hard reset , about 3 to 4 times a day . This interups using it and if this happens during the night the battery drains and i lose all data. Again this is not acceptable so on monday i am phoning dell for another reaplcement.

Hopefully defect free.

Is it to much to ask to get a product that works

Stuart

Why is it trying hard start it? Maybe there some software conflicts with some programs you have installed. What are you running on it?

I would say at the very least hard start your X3i manually and then for aday just play around with it WITHOUT restoring your data and still see if it wants to hardstart. If it doesn't then you probably have some program installe don your X3i causing it to want to hard start.

I agree with the above poster. Clean it, leave it fairly basic.(only a few must have programs) Then use it a day or two, if the problem does not continue, add programs one at a time until it starts acting up again.

did a liitle investiagtion and its the problems is hardware.

Slight pressure at the back of the unit, near the battery release , causes the screen to flicker and hard reset.

The force required is very small, just placing it on a desk is enough.

Must be a hardware problem inside. No software has been installed.

sending back on monday.

hopefully axim no 3 will be good

as a engineer one word comes to mind - quality control.

If I get a axim that works I love it.

yeah dell only ever what the base unit back, but send the whole kit again. ( not next day mind you)

So if the third one is ok I will have 3 cradels, 3 batteries, 3 stylus, 3 basic wallets, 3 power supplies

The batteries are always a handy thing.

Got a flight to japan soon so 3 batteries will get me a few films in.

I love the axim bar the fact I aint had a fully working one yet.

Glad i bought from dell and not ebay.
