Hardware or firmware?

Hardware I don't know, firmware is A01 (not the A01 on the dell website, that's actually an A00 patch, there's an A01 that was on the Dell website which is the actual A01, that comes on new Axims)

The software...

Settings -> System -> System Information -- the ROM version is listed about half way down the list of info.

this thread has a few links to it... usual warnings apply though - back up everything off your PDA first, including the built in storage... also don't try and restore a backup to the PDA after, rather re-install any software and re-sync with activesync after the upgrade.

And make a backup of your firmware before installing the new firmware (the download will give you the option to do this).

I've read some people mentioning the X3i (non-BT) as having A06 recently.
