i didn't loose my storage again since i installed the rom update to A02, maybe the update fixes the problem.... I just installed it like a week ago so i'm not really sure about this.

Sounds like it could be the solution .. fingers crossed

I just had the same thing happen to my Axim x3i, ROM A02. I started a hard reset, then cancelled it as suggested above, that seemed to do the trick. The "fake hard rest" seemed to clear out my appointments until another soft reset though

This still isn't working for me . . has anybody else found anything that worked? Is there anyway that I can uninstall Windows Mobile 2003 and then reinstall it?

Wow, thx for your trick!
I've tried it and luckily it works!
This saves me from a hard reset!!! :approve:

So, if you don't want to do a hard reset try that trick and see if it helps.

Whew.. after uninstalling some beta software I was testing I lost by built in storage. The "almost hard resetting" trick worked. Thank goodness.. that would have been a big ol' pain in the butt.

THanks for the top!

I don't know what causes the problem, I lost my built-in storage three time this week. After a soft reset. I did not install or uninstall any apps in the last month. I'm on the phone, or should I say hold, right now with Dell to order a replacment.

Sometimes a hard reset or an "almost hard reset" don't do the trick. That happened to me. So I downgraded my X5 Basic to PPC2K2 and then upgraded back. This works only for people who originally had PPC2K2, but it does work, since changing operating system reformats the built-in storage in a way that upgrades of the same OS do not.

sOLVED !!!

I Have a x3i.
I get this too a few times, and always come back making a hard reset.
But this time fails.
So, I decide to check on the web and only found this page http://tom61.arcadecontrols.com/axim_bootloader.html
so I decided to give it a try.
I used the latest rom image downloaded from dell, is a SP spanish rom, but when I tried to install it in normal way, it refuses. This axim came with A01 rom, because is refubrished. So, I put the image on the sd and make the wizzard key combination an vuala!!!

But, when finish it... It looks dead. so I tried again without sd and it starts a diagnostic program that advertist to me about read and write tests and backup, and all that things.

So I finished the test and still doesnt work, and I couldn't turn off my device. So I decide to search something in internet and speak dell support later, but magically, after 10 minutes, my devices boots with the A02 rom and the BIS back!!!

Now, I guess that It wasn't neccesary to change the rom, Just only run the BIOS test but I will try it later.

To do this test just keep pressed at same time the contacts, slide pushed, reset and power buttons, as the page describes, BUT NOT INSERT ANY CARD AND LET TO FINISH ALL THE TEST!!!.

Thank you for listening my experience.
I hope were useful :approve:

As well, the HP printing software caused the same issue with me when it didn't work and I uninstalled it. I did the hard reset, faked it out by cancelling the hard reset and bis is back.

Is there a mobile printing solution out there that has the drivers to support a dell printer? Print-boy does not! HP print does not!

Thanks!

i was doing backup and it shut off after 3 mins of no activity.. once i power it up, it hangs at 98%. so i decided to cancel it but it hangs. then i soft-reset it and i still manage to see built-in storage. after i soft reset again, built-in storage is gone!

after couple of soft reset it came back again.. weird! what i did was, press soft reset button approx. 10 seconds then release it... not sure if this is the way i solved it...

Well, I was just able to get my BIS back after several soft resets. I was a little worried about the hard reset, since I haven't backed up for a while (bad user, bad user...).

I'm backing up right now...
