exactly how to switch x3i batteries
ok, i have been wondering this, and as i am having to get a replacement ax (wifi probs) i need to know how to switch the batteries correctly without being at a power supply.
i need to know how to do this bc when i am on a long car trip, on a plane ride, or somethin without the way of gettting to a power supply i need to switch batteries. i have heard problems of data loss and all, so i wanted to see a step-by-step way of changing the battery in this manner....

The X3i has a rechargable backup battery that lets you swap out main batteries with a 30 min period of grace.

.
.

An Axim never really Turns Off, the power button basically just shuts off the screen. Which is why it's good to get a 3rd party app that will actually Close running programs when you hit the X, instead of sending them to the background where they keep on running & running & running.

ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ

But anyways.............just hit the Power button, switch batteries, hit the power button and away you go.

Well, It doesn't only switch off the lcd. It sets the processor to a sleep mode. It maintains a little power to ram to not lose all data, but the processor isnt executing any code. It doesn't matter if you leave your apps opened, it wont take more power.
I always switch it off before removing the battery. I have not tested, but I think it will switch off itself if you remove the battery when it is on.

Yes it will.

Actually, if you trigger the latch while it is on, then turn it back on, it will say "Warnning! Battery latch was released, system put in sleep mode to prevent data loss."

Someone at Dell does NOT know how to spell. Or was in a rush. WARNNING!

Is it me, or could they have made the battery removal on the X3 series a little easier? Sometimes I wonder if I'm going to need another set of hands to get the battery out! LOL

^^^LOL, ya, i use my teeth to hold the stylus pushing the btton over and then use my free hand to pop it out. With the Extended battery it is much easier.

ROFL!!!! dude, exactly!!! I just have to laugh when it comes time to swap batteries. I'm afraid I'm going to start breaking the plastic with my findernails. This would be a good idea for a new thread . . . How do YOU remove YOUR Axim Battery?
