Broken sync pins
The pins used for syncing broke of my PDA. i can still download my music using my memory card reader and i can still charge it. I need to find a good time to send my pocket pc back to Dell so that they can fix it.

It seems that this is a bad design defect that should of been fixed a while ago. It seems that the syncing connectors were cheaply made.

Dell doesn't Repair PDAs.....if you are still in your 30 day warranty, they will send you a new unit and then you return the defective one.

If you are out of the 30 days, but still within whatever warranty you have, they will do the same except they will send you a refurb.

If you're out of warranty......you're SOL, and they will only offer to SELL you a New or Refurb at the going rate.

Oh, well my unit was a refurbished model anyways, i saved $80 that way. I have also heard rumors that they ask for just the unit and they send you a refurbished unit with a battery so you basically get a free battery. Anyone knows if this is true?

Same happen to me also.
This will not be repaired or replaced under warranty.
Repair costs are almost the same as buying a new unit, cause they will change the main board and not repair it.

I straightened the pins the best I could, the device works fine now.

Waiting for a supplier popping up on internet selling spare connectors, so I can replace them as a service to X3 users.
I just can't buy spare connectors for these PDA's anywhere now.
If you know a source... let me know.

Probably going to be a lonnnnnnnnnng wait.

And even then, you'd have to be a robot to replace a bottom connector. There's like 50 different solder connections, many of them, literally, less than a hair's width apart.

There's a reason PDAs aren't generally considered Repairable............it's just not cost effective (or even possible) for some repairs.
