another topic about the Axim X3i and Wifi
Hi there!

A couple of weeks ago I changed my Axim X5 for the new Axim X3i with Wifi and Bluetooth integrated. It's a giant leap I can tell !

But... I am experiencing some small troubles with wifi connections;

When I am at home, (WEP and MAC filter enabled), wifi works fine, and I am happy . Then, when I go to high school, (also with WEP and MAC filter enabled), wifi doesn't work directly. I have to turn on and off the Wifi or Radio or Flight Mode, or sometimes even peform a soft reset before is starts working.

Then when it works and when I go back to my home, the same problem happens. I get sick of it. Almost al the times it says "active connection", but the Dell WLAN Utillity doesn't see any...

I tried to install some drivers, updates and patches from the dell site, but my device keeps telling me it is not necesary.

My rom version is A00.

Can anyone tell me what to do?

Thank you all in advance!

OK, I don't have an X3 so I'm shooting in the dark to some extent but here's what I'd try.

1) in the Configure Wireless Network page, uncheck the box "Automatically connect..."

2) Make sure the profiles you want to use are in the list with the network name the same as the SSID and delete all the rest.

3) Also make sure the profiles are in the WLAN settings from your Today page.

4) When you are getting ready to shut down the X3 before leaving one of the sites, turn off the wireless (with either the software or hardware control).

5) When starting up at the other location, turn on the wireless and give it a little while (half a minute or so) to associate before trying to connect.

Thank you for your reaction ikehiker. I did al the things you suggested and it seems to work when I'm at home. This afternoon I will go to high school and check the results there.

There is just one thing; what do you mean with:

"3) Also make sure the profiles are in the WLAN settings from your Today page."

Thanks again.

Ciao,

The image below shows the corner of the X3i today screen after you've tapped on the WLAN icon in the corner (arrow). The "Advanced" option will give you the settings I was talking about.
