X3 doesn't charge while turned on in cradle

My x3i no longer charges while being used in external power. When I turn off the unit, charging resumes. I just upgraded to activesync 3.7.1 but I am not sure if this is the problem. Anyone know why this is? Thanks

just did a hard reset and no help. I have no idea whats up

oops. I'm dumb. I had the cradle plugged into the surge protector, but the power switch for the cradle was off. Therefore, it was getting its power from the USB only, and I guess it only charges when turned off when powered by USB.
