I have just had my Axim X3i (BT) replaced by Dell, and I have a feeling i've been ripped off.
The new unit has the Wifi Aerial, and on it is two symbols, one is the wifi and the other looks like the Bluetooth, BUT, no where in the settings or programs have I any Bluetooth software, If I press the outer right button it activates Wifi, even in connections there is NOTHING about Bluetooth.
One thing you have to watch with Dell is the service tag thing. When they send you a replacement, it has a different service tag and ESC, which would explain why they couldn't find it.
The bottom line is this: If they are going to replace your Axim, make sure you record the service tag and express service code before sending it back. I learned this from work, as we have had laptops replaced that were under warranty. It is the consumer's job to keep track of their original ST and ESC. Just wanted to pass this on to you from experience.
Thanks for all the information, Dell's support centre is a nightmare to deal with, certainly makes me think I would be better off switching back to Ipaq's, never had ANY trouble with thier support team.
Just gonna try an X3i Rom with Bluetooth just as an experiment....You never know, has a very late Rom version already in and certainly had a very different desktop background....Rom A05 using PXA 263.
Anyway thanks to one and all.
P.S If anyone has a Bluetooth Rom they might assist with an experiment ;-)
How about posting in the X3 thread instead of the X30 thread so other membes can learn from this issue and not post about the same stuff over and over.
Moderator please move this!
Well, I just recieved my 4th X3i (third replacement), just to discover that it didn't have bluetooth. Same problem as with number two. And, I especially stressed the point that it had to be a BT enabled X3i, as I need it with my Teletype BT GPS.
First Axim couldn't read SD cards. Second had no BT. Third lost it's display after a couple of weeks. Fourth has no BT. Everytime I call for a "next business day replacement" it takes a week or more.
As far as I am concerned, Dell Axim X3i is the worst piece of crap ever made... For two months, I have been able to use my Axim for just a couple of weeks alltogether and I had virtually no use of my GPS. Can't recommend it to anyone.
Im always surpised when I see such bad service from Dell. Ive always had AWESOME service from them, home and work related. I dont know what to tell you.....
