Same Problems solved with D-Link

I had the exact same problems. I spent hours configuring my Axim X3i, static IP/dynamic, Long/short/auto preamble, power save off/on, etc...etc....etc

I tried it all. Called Dell, went through it all again. They sent me a replacement, it was actually worse. With my first Axim I can connect 1 out of every 5-10 times, with the new one, not successful at all.

So I went out to Best Buy and purchased a D-Link DI-624. It connected first time, no problem, no hassle, easy as can be. It connects 100% of the time.

I will use my other router at work for testing. It works fine with my laptop but my Axim, it was just too frustrating.

Cool

I found this trick:

For people that get frequent diconnects in Windows XP when connecting to a WT54G or WRT54GS, there is a possible solution. Try setting the "Beacon Interval:" to 50. This setting can be found in the 'Wireless >> Advanced Wireless Settings" tab in the Router Web Admin Page.

Take a look at this handy link (Linksys users only)

http://www.linksysinfo.org/ :)

Denus
Thanks for the tip, but today, my Axim connects about 75% of the time with or without this new setting. Key word is: Today.

Thanks again for the tip.

Maybe it's useful to get some hacked firmwares for the router.
It -may- help, but get more info from the site before doing an update.

I've installed a hacked (updated) firmware on my Linksys, i didn't have any problems since then.

So it's working for me! :)
